American Tech Giant Coherent Expands Production in Vietnam

American technology corporation Coherent, a global leader in photonics, optics, semiconductors, and networking technologies, continues to expand its presence in Vietnam. The company leased 30,000 m² of ready-built factory space in KTG Industrial Nhon Trach 2 Industrial Park in Dong Nai province – a deal facilitated by real estate consultancy Savills Vietnam.

The new facility will be Coherent's second factory in Dong Nai: the first was opened in July 2025 in Nhon Trach Industrial Park with an investment of $127 million. The leased premises are managed by Boustead & KTG Industrial Management (BKIM) and offer ready-built infrastructure for immediate production startup.

John Campbell, Director and Head of Industrial Services at Savills Vietnam, noted that while the north of the country remains a traditional hub for electronics manufacturing, an increasing number of electronics and advanced technology companies are exploring opportunities in the broader southern market. According to him, Dong Nai is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for high-tech manufacturing – thanks to its skilled workforce, developed industrial ecosystem, and large-scale infrastructure projects, including Long Thanh International Airport and the Third Ring Road.

Tran Quang Trung, Head of Project Development at Boustead & KTG Industrial Management, emphasized that Coherent demands world-class standards and highly specialized engineering requirements for its production facilities. According to him, KTG Industrial is proud to be a reliable contractor, ready to ensure the company's fastest possible production launch.

Coherent has been operating in Vietnam since 2005: its first factory was opened in VSIP1 Industrial Park in the former province of Binh Duong, specializing in the production of thermoelectric coolers, technical ceramics, wafers, advanced optics, and laser technologies. In 2019, the company launched a facility in Yenphong Industrial Park in Bac Ninh province, and in July 2025, a factory in Nhon Trach Industrial Park in Dong Nai with an investment of $127 million. Today, the corporation has a presence in over 20 countries. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, with a market capitalization ranging from $74 billion to $82 billion. The company's value has significantly increased due to a sharp rise in demand for AI data center equipment, partly thanks to partnerships in optical networks and Nvidia's $2 billion investment.

Vietnam continues to attract significant interest from global technology manufacturers due to its competitive operating costs, stable investment environment, and integration into global supply chains.
