On January 6, 2026, authorities in Ho Chi Minh City approved a project to create a science and technology city in Binh Duong, on territory that is currently administratively part of Ho Chi Minh City. The project is intended to become a new center for science and technology for southeastern Vietnam.
The project is being developed with the participation of Becamex, one of Vietnam's largest infrastructure and industrial developers. The project's idea is to bring together education, science, technology, production, and a comfortable urban environment in one place, so that developments do not remain in laboratories, but quickly turn into working business projects.
Project Structure
The territory is divided into two parts:
Central Zone — approximately 220 hectares.
This area is planned to house educational and research campuses, a science park, spaces for technology companies and startups, exhibition areas, as well as public and commercial facilities.
Production Zone — approximately 1,700 hectares.
It is intended for modern industrial parks with a focus on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centers, and other high-tech manufacturing.
The first phase includes 8 key facilities, including the Saigon Innovation Campus, research and educational sites, several technology zones of varying scales, and a large logistics center.
Timeline
- 2026 — project approval and start of initial works
- 2027–2030 — active construction and attracting investors
- after 2030 — phased completion and expansion of the project
Ho Chi Minh City authorities view the project as a long-term direction for the development of high technologies and one of the key investment projects in the coming years.
