Danang has launched the implementation of its first infrastructure project in the Free Economic Zone

On August 27, 2026, a launch ceremony was held in Da Nang for EAGLE FTZ, the second functional zone within the city's Free Economic Zone and the first free trade zone infrastructure project to move into the implementation phase.

The 75-hectare project is being developed by the Sài Gòn-Đà Nẵng Investment Joint Stock Corporation (SDN). The investment volume exceeds VND 1.568 trillion, or approximately $60 million.

EAGLE FTZ is located at the northern entrance of Da Nang and features transportation links to the Lien Chieu deep-water port, National Route 1A, the railway network, and Da Nang International Airport. The site is also connected to the East-West Economic Corridor, which links Vietnam with Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar.

The project's main focus areas will be logistics, high-tech manufacturing, and supporting industries. EAGLE FTZ plans to develop warehouse infrastructure, container handling, and multimodal transportation utilizing road, rail, maritime, and air transport.

The project aims to attract investment in the production of semiconductors and components for this sector, chip assembly, testing and packaging, advanced electronics, transport engineering, and the aerospace industry.

Other stated sectors include the manufacturing of wind turbines and electric vehicle batteries, robotics, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and supporting industry enterprises.

SDN plans to develop EAGLE FTZ as an integrated ecosystem combining manufacturing, logistics, and services. According to the company's General Director, Mai Cong Ho, the project's objective is to create a platform where businesses can access various links of the value chain in a single location.

The project also provides for the active use of digital technologies and the enhancement of energy efficiency. SDN has announced plans to digitalize trade and logistics operations, streamline administrative procedures, and increase operational transparency for investors.

Singapore's YCH Group has been brought in to assist with the development of EAGLE FTZ. In the first phase, the partners plan to test the operational model on a 5–10 hectare plot with real clients, cargo, and customs operations. Going forward, this experience is expected to be scaled across the entire 75-hectare project area.

The location of EAGLE FTZ is of strategic importance for Da Nang's development as a regional logistics hub. The site connects the Lien Chieu port, road and rail infrastructure, the airport, and the East-West Economic Corridor, creating conditions for the integration of manufacturing and logistics with international supply chains.

The total area of the Da Nang Free Economic Zone is approximately 1,881 hectares. It includes seven functional zones designated for manufacturing, logistics, trade and services, digital and information technologies, as well as innovation activities.

In addition to EAGLE FTZ, investors have already been determined for several other functional zones. Phuong Trang Group has received approval to develop FTZ3, and Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company for FTZ4. In 2025, Sun Group commenced construction on the 90-hectare FTZ5, with a declared investment volume of around $32 million.

The launch of EAGLE FTZ on August 27 marked the first practical stage in implementing the infrastructure of the Da Nang Free Economic Zone. City authorities expect the project to help shape a modern manufacturing and logistics ecosystem and strengthen Da Nang's role in regional and international supply chains.
