Da Nang welcomed 345,000 international tourists during the New Year holiday, three times more than Hanoi and almost five times more than Ho Chi Minh City.
Tourism revenue in Da Nang for the four-day holiday, from January 1st to 4th, is estimated at 2.4 trillion Vietnamese dong (approximately US$91.4 million).
Occupancy rates for four- and five-star hotels in the city reached 90%.
The surge in tourist traffic is attributed to favorable weather conditions and events held in Da Nang during the New Year holiday period.
On January 1st, at Da Nang International Airport, city authorities held a ceremony to welcome eight groups of international tourists arriving on flights from Manila, Incheon, Busan, Bangkok, Taipei, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.
In terms of the number of international tourists during the holiday period, Ninh Binh (178,000 people) ranked second in the country. This was followed by Hanoi (110,000), Ho Chi Minh City (78,000), Quang Ninh (70,500), Khanh Hoa (48,000), and Phu Quoc (30,000).
Vietnam plans to welcome 25 million international tourists in 2026, a 16% increase compared to last year, when a record of 21.5 million people was set.
Da Nang, in turn, expects to receive 19.1 million tourists, of which 8.7 million will be international visitors.
