One of Vietnam's leading developers, Sun Group, and international hotel operator Accor have announced the expansion of their strategic partnership, which has lasted for over a decade. Under the new agreement, the companies will add nearly 6,000 hotel rooms and serviced apartments in Da Nang and Phu Quoc Island to their joint portfolio.
The agreement was signed on July 7th in the presence of Accor Chairman and CEO Sébastien Bazin. Sun Group noted that this confirms the international hotel giant's long-term interest in developing Vietnam's tourism potential and strengthens the country's position as one of Asia's leading destinations.
The new projects will cover virtually all segments of the hospitality market — from mid-range properties to premium and luxury brands. The collaboration portfolio will include hotels and residences under the SO/, MGallery, Grand Mercure, TRIBE, ibis Styles, Sofitel, and Swissôtel brands.
Of particular significance is the fact that several renowned international brands — Sofitel, Swissôtel, TRIBE, and SO/ — will enter the Vietnamese market for the first time through this partnership. This will expand the offerings for both tourists and investors interested in hospitality real estate.
In Phu Quoc, Accor will manage properties within the large-scale coastal project Bai Dat Do and on Hon Thom Island. Bai Dat Do is being developed as a new hotel district adjacent to Sunset Town, while Hon Thom continues to evolve as an international resort and entertainment hub. The Rixos Phu Quoc Resort is already under construction here — the first fully all-inclusive luxury resort in Southeast Asia under the Accor & Ennismore brand, with its opening scheduled for Q4 2026.
Sun Group is also developing its own airline, Sun PhuQuoc Airways, which will use Phu Quoc as its base airport. In collaboration with Changi Airports International — a company part of Singapore's Changi Airport Group — the developer is evolving Phu Quoc International Airport into a "destination airport." The concept is that the airport becomes not just a point of arrival and departure, but an integral part of the resort: shops, restaurants, lounge areas, entertainment, and services are developed here so that tourists spend more time at the airport and begin their vacation from the moment they arrive. These projects are intended to enhance the island's tourism appeal and prepare its infrastructure for the APEC 2027 summit.
In Da Nang, Accor will manage hotels within the DIFF Fireworks Festival & Commercial Complex, which will become the new venue for the famous International Fireworks Festival, as well as properties at the Ba Na Hills resort. According to the developer, this will establish a new standard for resort tourism, combining hospitality infrastructure, entertainment, retail, and event tourism.
Today, Accor manages over 5,800 hotels in more than 110 countries worldwide. Vietnam is already the company's third-largest market in Asia, with 45 properties operating under the group's brands. Thanks to Accor's loyalty program, which unites over 110 million members, the partnership with Sun Group is expected to attract an additional flow of international tourists to Vietnam.
The expansion of the partnership confirms Sun Group's commitment to attracting leading global hotel brands to Vietnam. According to the company, this will raise hospitality service standards, diversify the country's tourism offerings, and strengthen Vietnam's competitiveness as one of the region's leading tourism destinations.
