In Vietnam, construction has officially commenced on an urban expressway that will directly connect the Ho Tram resort area with Long Thanh International Airport. The project is regarded as a pivotal infrastructure asset in the south of the country and holds strategic importance for the development of the region's transport network.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on July 1st, as part of a program launching eight major infrastructure projects, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City receiving its modern name.
The new expressway, approximately 42 km long, will feature six lanes, with a design speed of 100 km/h on the main section. Local service roads with a design speed of 60 km/h will also be built on both sides of the route.
The total investment for the project is estimated at nearly 46.9 trillion VND (approximately 1.8 billion USD). Construction will be carried out under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model between 2026 and 2029. Masterise Group is responsible for the project's implementation.
The route will connect Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road No. 4 with the Ho Tram coastal area, passing through several districts in the country's southeast and providing direct access to Long Thanh International Airport.
The project is divided into two phases. The first phase involves the construction of an interchange with DT991 Road and Ring Road No. 4, spanning approximately 2.3 km. The second phase includes the construction of the main section of the expressway, nearly 40 km long.
Concurrently, in Dong Nai province, construction has begun on another significant road project — the first section of an expressway that will connect Ma Da Bridge with Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road No. 4. This phase is valued at approximately 17 trillion VND (about 650 million USD). It will later become part of a larger transport corridor, totaling 44.5 km in length with an investment of nearly 29 trillion VND.
Upon completion, both projects will strengthen transport links in southern Vietnam and create new opportunities for the development of tourism, logistics, industry, services, and investment attraction.
