On December 15, 2025, Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast officially inaugurated its new plant in West Java province, Indonesia.
The plant was built in 17 months and became VinFast's fourth operating facility worldwide.
Current investments total approximately $300 million. The plant is designed to produce 50,000 vehicles per year and is expected to reach full capacity in the first quarter of next year. If the project is successful, VinFast plans to increase annual capacity to 350,000 electric vehicles. Total investment could exceed $1 billion.
The first models to be produced at the facility will be the VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, and VF 7 with right-hand drive for the Indonesian market.
VinFast already has three plants:
- Hai Phong (Vietnam) — the main plant, where mass production of electric vehicles began.
- Ha Tinh (Vietnam) — a facility launched in the summer of 2025, with a capacity of up to 200,000 vehicles per year.
- Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu (India) — a plant opened in August 2025; it assembles VF 6 and VF 7 models for the Indian market and for export.
The opening of the plant in Indonesia strengthens VinFast's position among key electric vehicle manufacturers in Southeast Asia and confirms the company's strategic plans to expand its presence in the region.
