Vietnam Welcomes 20 Millionth Tourist in 2023, Showering Them with $19,000 Worth of Gifts

The 20 millionth tourist was a guest from Poland who arrived at Phu Quoc Airport on December 15th. She received a gift package worth nearly 500 million dong ($19,000): business class tickets, a stay in a five-star hotel, a pearl necklace, dinners in Michelin-starred restaurants, golf, boat trips, and other gifts.

Passengers number 19,999,999 and 20,000,001 also received gifts - they were presented with sets worth 200 million dong. All other passengers on the flight received tickets to the Kiss of the Sea show in Sunset Town.

Tourism in Vietnam has recovered faster than expected. The country has already exceeded pre-COVID levels and expects more than 21 million tourists by the end of this year.

This year, the industry could grow by approximately 21%. The UN World Tourism Organization notes that Vietnam is among the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the world.
