Vietnam is the Only Country with Partnerships with All Permanent Members of the UN Security Council

Vietnam has become the only country in the world to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership status simultaneously with all five permanent members of the UN Security Council — the US, China, Russia, the UK, and France. This represents the highest level of diplomatic relations, entailing broad political, economic, defense, and technological cooperation.

This partnership format solidifies mutual commitments to strategic dialogue, investment, and technology transfer. Vietnam maintains regular consultations at the level of governments and defense agencies, participating in economic exchange programs and joint infrastructure projects.

An Expanding Network of Strategic Alliances

Beyond the permanent members of the UN Security Council, Vietnam also holds comprehensive strategic partner status with a number of key Asian and European economies, including Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, and Singapore. These agreements cover trade, investment, energy, digital transformation, green technologies, and maritime security.

For example, the partnership with Japan includes funding for transport and energy infrastructure, South Korea remains one of the largest investors in Vietnam's manufacturing sector, and cooperation with India is strengthening in IT and pharmaceuticals. At the same time, Vietnam is developing ties with the EU through the Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which provides access to the European market under preferential terms.

Geopolitical Balance and Significance for Investors

Combining partnerships with leading Eastern and Western powers makes Vietnam a unique example of a neutral yet actively integrated economy. The country manages to maintain political balance amidst global controversies, benefiting simultaneously from multiple directions — from American and Japanese investments to Chinese supply chains and Russian energy projects.

This approach earns Vietnam a reputation as a stable and predictable partner, while also enhancing its role as a platform for international real estate and business investments in Southeast Asia. Amidst the fragmentation of global markets, Hanoi's ability to maintain relations with diverse power centers becomes a key competitive advantage for the country's economy and a major trust factor for foreign investors.
