Construction of the new highway to the border with Cambodia will begin in April of this year. The project is designed to solve the problem of constant traffic jams on Highway No. 22. Currently, this is the only route from Ho Chi Minh City towards the Moc Bai border crossing.
Project Parameters
- Length: 51 km (24.7 km pass through Ho Chi Minh City, 26.3 km through Tay Ninh province).
- Investment: The total budget is estimated at 19.6 trillion dong.
- Technical data: At the first stage, 4 lanes will be built with a speed limit of up to 120 km/h.
- Timeline: The opening of traffic is scheduled for the end of 2027.
The highway will become part of the international transport corridor. In Cambodia, the docking of this section with the under-construction Phnom Penh - Bavet highway is being prepared in parallel.
Expected Results
- Travel time for trucks will be reduced by half.
- Exports and imports will become cheaper due to lower logistics costs.
- Industrial zones will begin to develop more actively near the border in Tay Ninh province.
Despite the fact that four lanes are provided at the first stage, the design of the highway allows for its future expansion to six lanes in order to cope with the growing traffic.
