Vietnamese company VinFast increased sales by 204.7% compared to last year, becoming the fastest-growing motorcycle manufacturer in the world.
In early 2026, the global motorcycle market continues its expansion, with intensifying competition among major manufacturers from Asia. According to MotorCyclesData — a platform tracking new two-wheeler registrations in 98 countries, which account for approximately 98.5% of the global market — the industry is demonstrating significant structural shifts.
The main highlight of the report was VinFast's rapid ascent. The Vietnamese electric vehicle and electric motorcycle manufacturer climbed from 53rd place in 2024 to 13th place in the global ranking in just two years.
According to MotorCyclesData, by April 2026, VinFast's sales surged by 204.7% year-on-year. This represents the highest growth rate among all major motorcycle manufacturers worldwide.
Honda remains the leader in the global market. The Japanese company sold approximately 7.35 million motorcycles in the first four months of 2026, an increase of 13.2% compared to the same period last year. Despite the growth of competitors, the gap between Honda and other manufacturers remains substantial.
Indian company Hero MotoCorp ranks second with approximately 2 million units (+17.6%), while Yamaha holds the third position with 1.7 million motorcycles sold (+4.6%). The ranking continues with TVS Motor, Yadea, Bajaj Auto, Suzuki, Royal Enfield, Niu Technologies, and Italika.
Overall, the ranking of the top 25 manufacturers indicates a strengthening influence of Asian companies. The list includes 11 Chinese manufacturers and 5 Indian ones, while Japan maintains 4 positions. Companies from Mexico, Taiwan (China), Italy, and the sole representative from Vietnam — VinFast — are also present in the ranking.
Amidst overall market growth, the trend towards electrification is gaining momentum. Electric motorcycle manufacturers are exhibiting the highest growth rates: for example, Chinese Niu Technologies increased sales by 35.4%, and Indian electric scooter manufacturer Ather Energy climbed from 40th to 21st place in the global ranking.
