In the period from January to May 2026, Vietnam's exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products reached $30.69 billion, marking a 9.2% increase compared to the same period last year.
This was announced by Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment at a press conference on June 1.
Imports of products in the sector also grew, reaching $22.28 billion (+12.6%). The sector maintained a positive trade balance, with a surplus of $8.41 billion.
Agricultural products accounted for the majority of export revenue, totaling $16.38 billion (+6.1%). Exports of forestry products reached $7.65 billion (+4.5%), and fish and seafood exports amounted to $4.65 billion (+10.6%).
The highest growth rates were recorded in livestock farming and related areas. Exports of livestock products increased by 43.2% to reach $308 million. Supplies of materials for agricultural production grew by 83% to $1.7 billion, and salt exports increased by 45.8%, totaling $6.7 million.
China remains the largest buyer of Vietnamese agricultural products, accounting for 20.5% of the sector's total export turnover, with the volume of shipments increasing by 28.4%. The United States remains the second most significant market with an 18.5% share, although exports in this direction decreased by 3.6%.
Shipments to the European Union also continue to grow. EU countries account for 11.8% of the sector's exports, with sales volume increasing by 4.2%. Exports to Japan, which holds a 6.8% share, grew by 3.5%.
According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Dang Ngoc Diep, the sector expects to achieve a growth rate of 3.7% in 2026, with the potential to reach 4%. Current indicators are in line with the plan and create favorable conditions for meeting annual targets.
